2nd Reading Items passed:
Rule 6.2.2 and 6.2.8 – Academic Seat Time Requirement – This will eliminate the 20 hours per week requirement in our academic eligibility rules. Students will still need to be passing five classes or the equivalent of 2 ˝ credits per semester to be eligible to participate.
1st Reading Items passed:
9-Man Football Proposal – This would replace the 1A 11-Man classification in football. Our classifications for football would then be 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A 9-Man and 1A 6-Man.
Other Board Action:
The following proposals were awarded for future culminating events:
Denied Saratoga’s request to be eligible for post season play in 6-Man football since they have opted down from 1A 11-Man football.
Denied the World Language Day request to have the WHSAA sanction their event.
Approved Rock River’s request to begin Cross Country in the fall of 2019.
Defeated Rule 7.11.3 – Soccer Contest Limit Proposal.
Made an editorial change for clarity on contest limits for individual sports. A document providing clarity to the schools will be brought to the next round of District Meetings.
Approved a motion to not have a Pilot Season in 2020 for softball.
Approved a Gold Card request for Kevan Kennington of Star Valley.
Established a backup plan should Casper College be hosting any Region IX games during the 1A/2A State Basketball or the 3A/4A State Basketball. Kelly Walsh High School and Natrona County High School have been generous enough to offer their facilities.
