November 2017 Board Action

2nd Reading Item passed:

Rule 7.5.15 & Rule 7.16.12 – Basketball and Wrestling Start Date Proposal – Goes into effect for the 2018-19 school year.

This will allow all schools the opportunity to begin practice on the Monday of Thanksgiving for basketball and wrestling. Rationale is to build in three extra days to meet the nine day practice rule in case of inclement weather before the first contest. Also, for those schools that have to make cuts, it gives them an opportunity to evaluate their teams as well as prepare for the first contest. No additional games or extension of the season is included with this proposal.

There will then be no contact allowed between the coaches and their players from Thanksgiving thru Sunday of that week.

Rule 7.11.36 – 3A Soccer Timing Proposal – This will allow the 3A soccer schools to keep the official time on a clock on the field, the same as the 4A adopted last year.

1st Reading Item passed:

No 1st Reading Items

Other Board Action:

Approved the 2016-17 Financial Review

Defeated the 4A State Qualifying Standard for Golf Proposal

Defeated the 2A Golf Season Proposal

Approved Lyman’s Request to Add Soccer at the JV Level in 2018
